History
Forged in the Studio was started in the summer of 2023 following the retirement of The Crafty Elm. Due to personal reasons, Hannah needed to close the business for a time but is excited to announce the re-opening of Forged in the Studio for 2026 in the new location in central Aberdeen!
Forged in the Studio brings a new challenge through unique exploration art classes in a variety of techniques and mediums.
Classes are run by Hannah who was drawn to creativity from a young age, spending her teenage years painting portraits (ruining a few bits of clothing along the way!) and sewing for her A-level Art qualification. This was followed by a foundation year, exploring all sorts of different mediums to develop her portfolio before completing a BA hons in Textiles Multimedia at Loughborough University.
Whilst raising two children, Hannah continued to explore art through large-scale paintings for events and large flower paintings for a backdrop for a wedding.
The Crafty Elm became her next challenge, creating custom puppets, dolls, and soft toys for Lingotot - a multilingual children's language class. Hannah's soft toys also featured on the Dragons Den as a pivotal part of Lingotots pitch.
The Crafty Elm allowed Hannah to develop a wide variety of skills including toy design, developing custom screen prints, and navigating the rules and regulations surrounding safe fabric use and toy manufacturing. The Crafty Elm grew to include custom toy designs for retail customers and was a successful business for over 9 years.
Post-pandemic brought EU regulation difficulties and Hannah was drawn to new creative endeavors which resulted in Forged in the Studio.
You can now join Hannah to explore your own creativity in her Studio located in central Aberdeen! Exchange 1 is right next to Union sqaure, meaning the is easy access from the train or bus station as well as plenty of parking. Attending a class at Forged in the studio couldn't be easier!
